A Colorado man survived a mountain lion attack while relaxing in his hot tub on Sunday evening. The man, who has not been publicly identified, was soaking in his outdoor hot tub when he heard rustling in the bushes nearby. Suddenly, a mountain lion pounced on him and began biting his head and arms. The man fought back and was eventually able to fend off the big cat using his bare hands and a nearby rock. He sustained multiple puncture wounds and lacerations and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials responded to the scene and located the mountain lion nearby. They euthanized the animal, as it posed a significant public safety threat. According to wildlife officials, it is rare for mountain lions to attack humans, but encounters are becoming more frequent as human development encroaches on their natural habitats. They advise individuals who live or recreate in mountain lion territory to be aware of their surroundings and take precautions, such as carrying bear spray and making noise to avoid surprising the animals.

The man who survived the attack is expected to make a full recovery.
