Gary Rossington

Gary Rossington, a founding member and guitarist of the southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, passed away at the age of 69 on February 25, 2023. He had been battling multiple health issues in recent years, including a heart attack in 2015 and a stroke in 2019. Rossington was the last remaining original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd still actively playing with the band.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1964, and rose to fame in the 1970s with hits such as "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird." The band suffered a tragic loss in 1977 when three of its members, including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, were killed in a plane crash.

Rossington continued to perform with the band after the crash, and helped keep its music alive for generations of fans. In 2006, Lynyrd Skynyrd was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Following Rossington's death, tributes poured in from fellow musicians and fans alike, honoring his contributions to the world of rock and roll.
